Qi Xiangdong: China to produce 440 million mt steel

SteelOrbis Shanghai Qi Xiangdong, Vice Secretary General of China Iron and Steel Association (CISA), stated that China's steel production is expected to rise 43 million metric tons or 10.9 percent compared with 2005, to 440 million metric tons in 2006. Accordingly, crude steel production will rise 40 million metric tons or 11.3 percent year on year to 392 million metric tons; pig iron production will rise 40 million metric tons or 12.1 percent to 370 million metric tons.
