China's crude steel production in October totaled 51.7469 million mt, up 15.4141 million mt or 42.4 percent year on year. Average daily production during the month in question reached 1.6693 million mt, down by 21,100 mt or 1.25 percent month on month. Meanwhile, domestic crude steel production for the January-October period reached 472.4738 million mt, up 44.7084 million mt or 10.5 percent year on year.
Taking imports and exports into consideration, the newly-added supply of crude steel to China's market in October totaled 50.5169 million mt, up 17.6568 million mt or 53.73 percent year on year. From January to October inclusive, the newly-added supply reached 468.9238 million mt, up 80.7976 million mt or 20.82 percent year on year.
In the month of October, China's exports of crude steel accounted for 5.23 percent of total national crude steel production; meanwhile, crude steel exports in the first ten months of this year constituted 3.9 percent of total domestic production.
China's pig iron production in October totaled 49.279 million mt, up 14.7876 million mt or 42.9 percent year on year. At the same time, total pig iron production in the January-October period reached 455.3327 million mt, up 55.1655 million mt or 13.8 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2008.
China's finished steel production for October totaled 62.4488 million mt, up 18.3559 million mt or 41.6 percent year on year. On the other hand, national finished steel production from January to October inclusive reached 565.4041 million mt, up 75.3835 million mt or 15.4 percent year on year.
