Primetals Technologies to modernize three slab concasters for CSN

UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies has announced that it will modernize three two-strand continuous slab casters of Brazilian steel producer Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), located at its production site in Volta Redonda in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
 
According to Primetals Technologies, the aim of the modernization project is to improve product quality and reduce maintenance costs. Installation work is scheduled for the second half of 2018 during a regular shutdown, while commissioning is planned for the third quarter of 2018.
