POSCO’s Joon-Yang Chung becomes worldsteel’s new chairman

At the 47th annual meeting of the World Steel Association (worldsteel) held in Sao Paulo on October 7, Joon-Yang Chung, chairman and CEO of South Korean steelmaker POSCO, was named as the new chairman of the association, replacing Alexey Mordashov, the CEO of Russian steel producer Severstal.
 
As announced by worldsteel director general Edwin Basson, Alexey Mordashov has now become one of two vice chairmen of the association, the other one being Wolfgang Eder, the chairman and CEO of Austrian producer voestalpine.
 
Worldsteel also stated that UAE-based Emirates Steel Industries (ESI) and Italian producers Ilva and Riva Forni Elletrici have become members of the association.
