Pig iron production of China

China produced 27.2 million tons of pig iron in June 2005, up 40.7 percent year on year. Total pig iron production for the country in the first six months reached 155 million tons, a 33.1 percent year on year increase. China's Hebei province led the way, accounting for 19.4 percent (5.29 million tons) of pig iron production in June and 21.2 percent (32.88 million tons) in the first half. Shandong placed second with 2.63 million tons of production in June and 14.37 million tons through the first half, a 70.8 percent year on year increase. Liaoning followed with 2.61 million tons in June and 15.25 million tons in the first half.
