Pakistan’s scrap imports up 45.1 percent in May from April

Pakistan’s scrap imports amounted to 126,194 mt in May this year, rising by 45.1 percent compared to April and dropping by 38.0 percent year on year, according to the data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of these imports in the given month was $68.25 million, up by 34.2 percent month on month and down by 41.7 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s iron and steel imports in May amounted to 176,610 mt, falling by 33.5 percent on year-on-year basis and increasing by 52.2 percent compared to the previous month. In the given month, the value of Pakistan’s iron and steel imports was $141.18 million, moving down by 40.3 percent year on year and advancing by 53.3 percent month on month.
