Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports amounted to 100,673 mt in November this year, decreasing 47.6 percent compared to October and down 24.7 percent year on year, according to data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of the iron and steel scrap imports was $43 million in November, falling 46.7 percent compared to October this year and stable compared to the same month of 2011.
Pakistan's scrap imports in the July-November 2012 period amounted to 750,780 mt, increasing 15.4 percent compared to the same period one year earlier. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports was $290 million, rising 31 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in November amounted to 155,517 mt, increasing by 13 percent on year-on-year basis and down slightly by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month. The country's iron and steel imports in the July-November 2012 period totaled 703,639 mt, increasing by 3.15 percent year on year. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $578 million, rising 6.2 percent year on year.
