According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), in May this year monthly industrial new orders for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey improved by 22.1 percent year on year and registered a rise of 2.7 percent over the previous month. The monthly industrial new order index for Turkey's manufacture of basic metals maintained its high monthly levels in May after it surpassed in March the levels achieved during the peak boom period in the summer of 2008.
In May, the monthly turnover of the manufacture of basic metals increased by three percent over April and was up 25.1 percent year on year. May is the fifth consecutive month that the monthly turnover of Turkey's manufacture of basic metals has recorded an increase, reaching its highest levels since July 2008 after it returned to pre-crisis levels in March this year.
