The annual inflation rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries increased to 1.2 percent in September this year, compared to 0.9 percent in the previous month, according to the latest figures.
The inflation in food prices decreased to -0.4 percent in September from -0.1 percent in the previous month, while energy prices fell by 2.8 percent compared to August.
Compared with the same month of 2015, annual inflation increased in all major OECD economies in September 2016 except in Japan where it was stable at -0.5 percent. In September, annual inflation increased to 1.5 percent in the US, up from 1.1 percent, to 1.0 percent in the UK, up from 0.6 percent, to 0.7 percent in Germany, up from 0.4 percent, to 1.3 percent in Canada, up from 1.1 percent, to 0.4 percent in France, up from 0.2 percent, and rose to 0.1 percent in Italy, up from -0.1 percent, all month on month.
