Nucor to acquire assets of Fort Howard Steel

According to the statement released by Nucor Corporation, the company has signed an agreement with Fort Howard Steel to purchase all assets of the company's Oak Creek, Wisconsin operations. The acquisition of the assets by Nucor is subject to the regulatory approvals. Fort Howard Steel produces 140'000 tons of cold finished bar products per annum. With this takeover, Nucor will become the leader of the market in cold finished bar products business. The deal is expected to be completed in mid February 2005.
