Nucor halts Memphis operations following casualty at SBQ mill

Charlotte, North Carolina-based Nucor Corporation temporarily suspended operations Tuesday after a fatal accident at its SBQ mill in Memphis, Tennessee.

Jerry Buford was operating mobile equipment at the mill's inventory yard and was pinned between a forklift and a pallet of steel. The cause of the accident is under investigation, and Nucor officials have given no indication yet as to when operations would resume.
