India's state-owned miner National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has announced that in the first four months of the financial year 2018-19 (started April 1) it produced 8.39 million mt of iron ore, registering a decrease of 23 percent year on year. The company's iron ore sales in the given period amounted to 8.72 million mt, falling by 27.5 percent year on year.
During the first four months, NMDC's iron ore output from its Karnataka mines amounted to 2.89 million mt, down 28.9 percent, while the iron ore output from its Chhattisgarh mines decreased by 19.8 percent to 5.50 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
