Ningbo Port to extend iron ore transfer dock

The Ningbo Development & Reform Committee recently approved a proposal from China's Ningbo Port to expand on of the port's iron ore transfer docks so that it can handle more ships. The port's current annual iron ore handling capacity of 22 million tons can no longer satisfy the demand of steelmakers. Therefore, the project calls for the extension of the port's 200'000 ton unloading capacity dock by 62 meters, allowing it to increase the number of unloading machines. May was a record-breaking month for Ningbo Port, as total iron ore throughput exceeded 5 million tons for the first time ever.
