New residential building starts in Sweden down 14% in 2011

In Sweden, construction started on 22,700 new residential buildings in 2011, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB). This figure represents a decrease of 14 percent compared to 2010, when construction started on 26,417 new residential buildings.
 
Meanwhile, building permits for residential and non-residential buildings in Sweden totaled 7,625, consisting of 4,239 for residential buildings and 3,385 for non-residential buildings, up 13.5 percent compared to 2010.
