New orders in German construction industry up 1.9% in Jan-Sept

As reported by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the total price-adjusted value of new orders received by building construction and civil and underground engineering enterprises in Germany increased by 5.6 percent in September this year compared to the same month of 2012.

In September, new orders in building construction in Germany increased by 5.3 percent, while new orders in civil and underground engineering were up by 5.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis. The total turnover in the overall construction industry in Germany amounted in September this year to around €9.25 million, up 3.7 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the January-September period this year, the total price-adjusted value of new orders in the overall German construction industry rose by 1.9 percent year on year, with a 1.1 percent increase in the building construction sector and a 2.8 percent rise in the civil and underground engineering sector, both year on year. During the same period, the total turnover in the overall German construction industry amounted to €64.9 billion, indicating an increase of two percent compared to the same period of 2012.
