According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 96,835 units, decreasing by 22.1 percent month on month and down 11.3 percent year on year. In July, new motor vehicle registrations had increased by 32 percent compared to the previous month.
New passenger car registrations in August totaled 43,648 units, decreasing by 27.6 percent as compared to the previous month and down 24.8 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 45.1 percent of total registrations. Small truck registrations in August, meanwhile, decreased by 10.7 percent month on month and were down 26.3 percent year on year, amounting to 18,141 units. Small truck registrations constituted 18.7 percent of total registrations.
In the January-August period of this year, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 854,958 units with a 47.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
