New commercial vehicle registrations in EU up 13.5 percent in H1

In June this year, new commercial vehicle registrations amounted to 165,767 units across the European Union (EU) increasing 1.5 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). Looking at new registrations in the major markets in the EU-27 region, Spain (-12.7 percent) and France (-6.8) recorded a decline, while Germany (+8.7 percent) and the UK (+12.8 percent) indicated increases.


In the half of this year, a total of 1,001,579 new vehicles were registered in the EU-27, or up 13.5 percent from the same period a year ago. In terms of volume, France recorded the most new registrations (251,682 units) or 8.5 percent growth, followed by Germany (160,696) and the UK (153,736) and which grew by 24.5 percent and 23.8 percent year on year respectively.


All major markets in the EU-27 posted growth in the new heavy commercial vehicles market in June, leading to an overall year-on-year increase of 30.5 percent. From January to June, 119,745 new trucks were registered in the EU-27, or 55.9 percent more than in the same period last year. In the meantime, new registrations of buses and coaches were up by 21.3 percent year on year in June.
