NEMI receives Mines Act Permit

Canadian-based Northern Energy and Mine Inc. (NEMI) announced that it has been granted a British Columbia Government Mines Act Permit to begin development of its Trend Small Mine Project near Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. The mine will produce low sulphur, medium volatile coking coal used in steel production. NEMI is currently negotiating sales contracts with several international companies for metallurgical coal sales. NEMI has contracted Tercon Construction Ltd. for mine and infrastructure construction. Tercon is expected to conduct mine operations as well. Further mine plans call for completion of the mine rail loop and loadout, and re-establishment of 10 miles of rail service on the mine’s siding. Construction is expected to begin on the major plant and infrastructure as well the rail by the fourth quarter. The Trend Small Mine is expected to produce 60’000 mt of coking coal per quarter and 240’000 mt annually.
