Philippines-based nickel miner Nickel Asia Corporation (NAC) has announced that its total estimated nickel ore shipment value amounted to PHP 9.8 billion ($226 million) in the first nine months of 2011, increasing by 78 percent compared to PHP 5.7 billion ($131.4 million) recorded in the same period last year. According to the statement released by the company, the increase in the shipment value was mainly due to the surge in demand and improved pricing for nickel ore sold to Chinese customers.

NAC sold an aggregate total of 8.3 million wet mt of nickel ore during the first nine months of the current year, with an increase of 43 percent as compared to the same period last year.
