Turkey-based steel producer MMK Metalurji, a subsidiary of Russian steel giant Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), has announced that hot dip galvanized steel sheet and coil sales to the Turkish domestic market increased by 66 percent, while export sales improved by 30 percent, both year on year, during the first four months of the current year.

In the January-April period, MMK Metalurji's domestic color coated steel sheet and coil sales remained unchanged, while export sales of these products increased by 21 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

MMK Metalurji also indicated that during May hot rolled steel sheet and coil prices increased by $10-15/mt in the domestic market due to a supply shortage, while hot rolled steel sheet and coil import prices also moved upwards. The company expects this price increase to be reflected in hot dip galvanized and color coated steel sheet and coil prices in the current month.
