The Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that in 2010 it plans to increase its output to not less than 11.2 million mt of finished steel products.

Accordingly, due to improvements in technology, MMK plans to ensure that in 2010 its steel consumption ratio for rolled products will not exceed 1,070.2 kg/mt. Meanwhile, the company also aims to increase its productivity per employee in 2010.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, in 2009 MMK saw a 20 percent decrease in its finished steel product output to 8.764 million mt, as it suffered from a decline in orders from crisis-hit domestic sectors such as construction and automobile manufacturing.
