Mittal SA extends discount to smaller orders

Mittal Steel SA, the largest steelmaker in South Africa, announced reduction in the order quantity that qualifies for a discount. According to the new pricing policy, orders greater than 120 tons will have 10 percent discount. The former sublimit for the discount was 350 tons. Reportedly, the company took the decision in order to support medium and small scale companies in South Africa. However, South Africa's Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said the discount was not sufficient to support small and medium scale companies in the country and further discounts were required. It has also been reported that Mittal would provide a Rand 60 million ($9.43 million) discount for a low-cost housing project of the government.
