Ministry of Commerce inspects congested port
On April 6, 2005, a ten-member team led by the head of the Chinese Ministry of Commerces Foreign Trade Department carried out a spot inspection of Rizhao Port. The team intended to investigate how iron ore shipments were affecting congestion at the port. The team communicated with personnel familiar with the iron ore congestion situation and appraised data and various suggestions submitted by the port. The inspection team confirmed that they would release appropriate policies that should guarantee the healthy development of China's steel industry. Accompanying the head of the Foreign Trade Department on the inspection were representatives from the China State Development & Reform Commission (SDRC), the Ministry of Communication, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection & Quarantine, General Customs, the China Iron & Steel Association (CISA) and the Commerce Dept of Minmetals.Ministry of Commerce inspects congested port
