Gerdau-owned long producer Gerdau Corsa will obtain electricity from French energy company Engie, a media report from Forbes said this week. Engie will build a 130.8 MW solar project in Sonora, Mexico, to supply electricity to the local steelmaker.

The two companies signed a 15-year contract to supply Gerdau Corsa’s energy. The $600 million mill, located in Sahagun, Mexico, was inaugurated in December 2015. Gerdau Corsa has an installed capacity of 1 million mt of crude steel and 700,000 mt of finished steel products.
