Mexico’s economy secretariat, SE, has decided to maintain a 57.69 percent tariff on imports of rebar from Brazil, it said on Friday.

According to SE, local rebar producers Deacero, Ternium and Simec requested the review of the existing duties, suggesting the period of analysis should go from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.

Under the request of the local rebar producers, which were represented by the nation's Chamber of the Iron and Steel Industry (CANACERO), SE decided to maintain the 57.69 percent tariff on imports of rebar from Brazil.

According to SE, such a measure is applied when one or more local producers formally present a request for the review of existing AD duties.

SE said the period of review of the duties will go from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015, while the period of analysis will start on July 1, 2010, ending on June 30, 2015.
