Mexico attracts $254 million in investments from four companies after EU trade agreement

The Governor of Guanajuato, Miguel Márquez, announced this week that four companies have committed to investing $254 million in the El Bajio region. The four companies are reportedly also creating 4,000 direct positions.

René Schlegel, President of Bosch México, committed to a $120 million investment that will employ 1,200 in the region. Schlegel stated that the new Bosch plant will be in Celaya and will house the latest technology developed by the Bosch Group. The facility will produce components for automobiles produced by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi and Volkswagen.

The automobile related French firm Streit Groupe has committed to establishing a manufacturing facility in Comonfort, Guanajuato. The other two companies are reportedly based in Germany.

The governor added that Guanajuato state competed against other Mexican states such as Jalisco, Querétaro, and Puebla as well as the United States.
