Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced that it has signed an agreement with the Serbia-based steel producer HBIS Group Serbia Iron & Steel for coke supply.

According to the agreement, Mechel’s subsidiary Moscow Coke and Gas Plant will supply its Serbian partner with up to 120,000 mt of coke products, around 30,000 mt per quarter. Supplies will be made in the January-December period of 2018. Prices will be determined on a quarterly basis following negotiations.

Mechel stated that, earlier this year, several trial batches of metallurgical coke were shipped to HBIS Group Serbia Iron & Steel, which is a subsidiary of a leading Chinese steelmaking company, Hebei Iron & Steel Group.
