MacSteel and Sanyo Steel agree to transfer technology

The US steel bar producer MacSteel, a division of engineered materials and components manufacturer Quanex Corp., and Japan's Sanyo Special Steel Company have agreed to transfer technology concerned with automotive steel applications. These agreements will include non-leaded, free-cutting steels, a high strength steel developed for lighter weight powertrain applications and quality improvements for steel cleanliness levels. With these agreements, MacSteel will be able to aim additional applications for the new US automotive manufacturers. Furthermore, the company will supply new products to their existing customers. Furthermore, in August 2002, MacSteel and Sanyo have signed a cooperation agreement to support Japanese automotive manufacturers in the North American vehicular products market.
