Local governments in China to pay back 43 percent of debts in 2011-12

According to China Securities Journal, the current year and next year constitute a peak period for the repayment of debts by local governments in China, with 43 percent of local government debt in China totaling RMB 4.6 trillion ($714 billion) to be paid back in the 2011-12 period.

After supervision was increased, the risks involved in local government debt in China have been greatly reduced.
