Liaoning steel products head overseas

Stronger steel products prices in the international market have spurred steel enterprises in China’s Liaoning province to shun domestic customers in favor of the more lucrative export markets. In the first two months of 2005, Benxi Steel’s exports set a new company record by exceeding 100’000 tons and $70 million in value. During the same period, Benxi Steel signed steel products export contracts totaling more than 200’000 tons. Anshan Steel informs that China’s domestic auto industry, home appliance industry and construction industry all show huge demand for high-grade CR products. However, the price differential between domestic and international prices means that the bulk of Anshan and Benxi’s high-grade CR products are shipped overseas. The 0.5mm CR sheet produced by Anshan Steel and Benxi Steel is largely exported to the EU, Japan and South Korea. In addition, Benxi’s continuous casting billet found its way to the US market, as did the company’s CR sheet and galvanized steel sheet.
