Leading Chinese mills post soaring crude steel outputs for 2007

In 2007, Baosteel Group was China's largest crude steel producing company with crude steel production of 28.577 million mt, an increase of 9.27 percent from a year earlier. Anben Iron & Steel Group was the second largest crude steel manufacturer with production of 23.588 million mt, up 4.57 percent on a year ago. Meanwhile, Jiangsu Shagang Group accounted for the third largest crude steel production figure at 22.893 million mt, marking an increase of 16.74 percent year on year.

In 2007, Tangshan Iron & Steel Group Co. Ltd produced 22.751 million mt of crude steel - up 19.39 percent, Wuhan Iron & Steel Corp. produced 20.186 million mt - up 12.8 percent, Maanshan Iron & Steel Group Corp. produced 14.166 million mt - up 26.93 percent, Shougang Group produced 12.858 million mt - up 21.95 percent, Jinan Iron & Steel Group produced 12.123 million mt - up 7.83 percent, Laiwu Steel Group produced 11.699 million mt - up 8.43 percent, and finally Valin Group produced 11.123 million mt - up 12.3 percent, all compared to 2006.
