SteelOrbis has heard that a Latvian company plans to buy the Latvia-based bankrupt steelmaker KVV Liepajas metalurgs as a whole and launch billet or rebar production.

The company submitted their proposal to the government, waiting for the final decision which is expected within the next week.

In January, it was stated that the company will be auctioned in parts since it failed to find a buyer. However, buying as a whole is still an option.

Liepajas metalurgs resumed operations in February 2015 after being acquired by Ukraine-based KVV Group and the steelmaker was declared bankrupt in September 2016.
