Shandong-based Chinese steelmaker Laiwu Steel, a subsidiary of Shandong Iron and Steel Group, started repair works on its 1,080 m³ blast furnace on March 4 and the date for resuming production has yet to be determined, industry sources said.

The overhaul is expected to reduce the steelmaker's pig iron output by around 3,000 mt per day.
