Japanese steelmaker Kobe Steel has announced that it will establish two wholly-owned companies in July, one in Europe and the other in the Middle East, to expand the global marketing and servicing of its compressors.

Kobelco Machinery Europe GmbH, to be set up in Munich, Germany, will strengthen the marketing of Kobe Steel's non-standard compressors in Europe and provides parts for use in the manufacture of compressors in Japan. Kobelco Machinery Middle East FZE, to be established in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, will provide after-sales services for non-standard compressors sold in the Middle East.

According to Kobe Steel's statement, it is the world's only comprehensive manufacturer that makes screw, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors. The company estimates it has a 40 percent share of the world market for non-standard screw compressors. Non-standard compressors are used in petrochemical plants, natural gas plants and other large facilities.
