According to the data released by the Republic of Kazakhstan's Agency of Statistics, in the first three months of 2009 the country registered an 21.8 percent decrease in its crude steel production, a 7.8 percent decrease in its production of flat rolled steel (including a 23.7 percent decline in tinplate), and a 37.9 percent decrease in its ferroalloys production, all compared to the data for January-March 2008.
The respective figures in metric tons were 871,186, 718,710 (including 39,213 for tinplate), and 269,399.
