According to Turkey-based steel producer Kardemir, it will produce 100,000 mt of value-added steel in 2018, as part of a plan to produce nearly 450,000 mt value-added steel annually to eliminate import dependency in some steel products.
Additionally, Turkey’s sole rail producer Kardemir will also start production of railway wheels in September this year.
With a current annual steel output capacity of 2.4 million mt, the steelmaker aims to increase its capacity to 3.5 million mt by the end of 2019.
