The Egyptian steelmaker Kandil Steel plans to expand its annual production capacity up to one million metric tons of finished steel products by 2010.

The company's expansion projects will include an increase of its galvanized steel production capacity to a preliminary 640,000 metric tons from the current 360,000 metric tons per year, and also a rise in its cold rolled and pre-painted steel production output.

The production range of Kandil Steel includes 0.25-3.0 mm thick and 500-1,250 mm wide CRC; 0.25-2.0 mm thick and 600-1,250 mm wide HDG; and 0.3-0.8 mm thick and 600-1,250 mm wide pre-painted steel products.

As HR feedstock, Kandil Steel uses supplies from both domestic producer Ezz Steel and also from Europe and Russia.
