JSW Steel’s crude steel output up 43 percent in Q3 FY 2016-17

JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, produced 3.86 million mt of crude steel in the third quarter (ended December 31) of the 2016-17 financial year, showing an increase of 43 percent year on year. In the first nine months of the year, JSW Steel’s crude steel output increased by 25 percent to 11.70 million mt, compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
 
According to the company's statement, in the December quarter JSW Steel produced 2.83 million mt of flat rolled products, increasing by 52 percent, while its long rolled product output totaled 740,000 mt, up 18 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the first nine months of the 2016-17 financial year, JSW Steel’s flat rolled products output totaled 8.43 million mt, rising 22 percent, while its long rolled product output increased by 22 percent to 2.39 million mt, both compared to the same period of the previous financial year.
