JSW Steel’s capacity to grow 33 percent in next two years

India-based JSW Steel announced that it plans to increase capacity by 33 percent in the next two years. For fiscal year 2020, JSW Steel has plans to increase annual capacity to 13 million mt at its Vijaynagar facility, which has an annual capacity of 12 million mt. At the company’s Dolvi facility, which has an annual capacity of 5 million mt, the company plans to increase capacity to 10 million mt. At the Salem facility, the company plans to maintain the current 1 million mt annual capacity, for a combined total capacity of 24 million mt, an increase of 33 percent from current capacity levels.

JSW Steel’s production totals for the last five years are 12.17 million mt in FY 2014; 12.63 million mt in FY 2015; 12.56 million mt in FY 2016; 15.80 million mt in FY 2017; and 16.27 million mt in FY 2018 (which ended March 31, 2018). In FY 2018, JSW operated at a 90 percent capacity utilization rate.
