German plantmaker SMS Meer has announced that the Indian steelmaker Jindal Steel and Power has placed an order for the supply of a rebar mill. The new mill will be installed at JSPL's Angul works in the Indian state of Odisha. With this mill JSPL will be able to meet the increased demand for rebar in India.

The new mill, with an annual capacity of 1.4 million mt, will produce rebar with diameters from 8 mm to 40 mm, while it is scheduled to be commissioned in November 2015

JSPL CEO V.R. Sharma said that the new mill will be both environmentally-friendly and cost-effective.
