JFE Steel to increase scrap usage

Japanese steelmaker JFE Steel announced plans to increase its annual scrap usage in an effort to reduce its C02 emission. JFE Steel will gradually increase its scrap usage, taking crude steel volume and other energy-saving measures into account. Takashi Sekita, Managing Director of JFE Steel, indicated that the company would be the first to achieve the target of reducing CO2 emission despite the increase in costs.
