Jawaharlal Nehru Port lifts ban on metal scrap handling

India’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port repealed the temporary ban on the handling of import containers carrying iron and steel scrap after congestion eased at the Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal. The ban had been in place since November 2004. An estimated 3’000 TEUs of sheet scrap is expected to pass through the port now that the ban has been lifted. Jawaharlal Nehru Port handles almost 60% of India’s overall container traffic.
