According to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Association, steel product orders, including specialty steels, booked by domestic steel consuming sectors in September this year amounted to 7.12 million metric tons, increasing by nine percent compared to August and down 9.69 percent year on year.
In September, steel product orders in Japan, including specialty steels, booked by the domestic construction sector decreased by 0.2 percent compared to August, to 896,077 metric tons, while the year-on-year decrease was 19.99 percent. Meanwhile, steel product orders booked by the Japanese automotive sector continued their rise which began in February this year, reaching 1.08 million metric tons, up 4.05 percent compared to August and down 17.63 percent year on year. Finally, Japan's shipbuilding industry booked 457,700 metric tons of steel products during the month in question, down seven percent month on month and also down seven percent year on year.
