Japan's October steel exports up

Data from the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation show that Japan's steel exports rose 16.7 percent year on year to 2.84 million metric tons in October 2006. Japan's steel exports to South Korea rose 4.2 percent year on year to 662,083 metric tons in October, while those to China grew 26.2 percent to 543,462 metric tons in the same month. However, Japan's October steel exports to Thailand fell 8.6 percent to 306,011 metric tons, while those to Taiwan fell 10.7 percent to 274,217 metric tons. Japan's steel exports to the US jumped 15.1 percent to 120,416 metric tons.
