Japan’s imported vehicle sales up in June
The Japanese Automobile Importers Association (JAIA) disclosed that the country's imported vehicle sales rose 0.4 percent year on year to 28'455 units in June. The association indicates that foreign automakers produced 26'855 of the imported vehicles sold, an increase of 4.3 percent from a year earlier. Japanese automakers overseas accounted for the other 1'600 vehicles, down 38.3 percent year on year. For the first six months of the year, imported vehicle sales totaled 135'331 units, down 2.6 percent from a year earlier. In terms of sales, German automakers retained the top three positions in the market. Mercedes-Benz captured a 19.6 percent market share as its sales jumped 34.6 percent year on year to 5'566 units. BMW followed with a 7.8 percent increase in sales to 5'085 vehicles. Volkswagen kept hold of third place despite a 15.9 percent drop in sales to 4'962 units.Japan's imported vehicle sales up in June
