In May this year, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet shipments decreased by 5.8 percent compared to the previous month and fell by 8.6 percent compared to the same month last year, amounting to 811,776 metric tons. 71.6 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 28.4 percent were made to the export markets, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data.
In May of the current year, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 813,018 mt, down 3.8 percent month on month and declining by seven percent year on year.
In May, Japan's hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.62 million mt, up 9.5 percent from the previous month and increasing by 12.5 percent year on year. 23.4 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 76.6 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan's hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.67 million mt, rising by 13.6 percent both month on month and year on year.
