In August this year, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet shipments increased by 1.1 percent compared to the previous month and were down by 14 percent compared to the same month of 2016, amounting to 708,000 metric tons. 81.6 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 18.4 percent were made to the export markets, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data.
In August, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 792,000 mt, up 18.7 percent month on month and falling 11.5 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in August, Japan's hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.62 million mt, up 10.2 percent from the previous month and rising by 4.1 percent year on year. 24.7 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 75.3 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan's hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.6 million mt, increasing by six percent month on month and down by 4.7 percent year on year.
