Japan’s domestic steel product orders fall in October

According to the data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Association (JISF), steel product orders, including specialty steels, booked by domestic steel consuming sectors in Japan in October this year amounted to 7.2 million metric tons, decreasing by 3.6 percent compared to September this year and down 3.9 percent year on year.
 
In October this year, ordinary steel product orders in Japan booked by the domestic construction sector increased by 0.7 percent month on month to 874,053 metric tons - up 9.8  percent year on year, while steel product orders booked by the Japanese automotive sector, including specialty steel, reached 1.29 million metric tons, falling by 4.4 percent as compared to September and up 14.3 percent year on year. Japan's shipbuilding industry booked 440,256 metric tons of ordinary steel products in October, rising by four percent month on month and down 9.8 percent as compared to the same month of 2010.
