Japanese steel industry sees increased orders in August

According to data released by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation on October 11, Japan steel industry's order volume for ordinary steel reached 5.801 million mt in August this year, up 5.7 percent year on year.
 
The increase in orders has mainly been attributed to increasing domestic demand supported by Japan's automotive sector. Japan's domestic ordinary steel orders increased by 5.2 percent year on year to 3.654 million mt in August.
 
In addition, Japan's steel export volume in August rose by 6.5 percent year on year to 2.147 million mt.
