Japanese automakers’ overseas output down 12.7 percent in Q2

Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers during the second quarter of the calendar year 2011 totaled 2,771,901 units, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). The figure represents a decrease of 12.7 percent compared to the same period of 2010.

For the first half of 2011, overseas production by Japanese automakers stood at 6,486,466 units, with an increase of 1.2 percent compared to the first half of 2010.

In the January-June period of this year, Japan's vehicle production in Asia totaled 3,698,160 units, up 10.9 percent, its production in North America was 1,433,505 units, down 18.2 percent, in the US alone Japanese vehicle output was 1,131,077 units, down 18.3 percent, while in the EU Japanese automakers' vehicle production amounted to 644,518 units, up 0.4 percent, all compared to the same period of 2010.
